The City of Wilmington recently experienced the trauma of its 104th shooting this year, with slightly less than half of the year remaining. Much of our marginalized communities including our children, our elderly population, and our communities of color live in neighborhoods plagued by poverty and by violence resulting from lack of opportunity and lack of community support from the local government, shown in the constant struggle to keep funding afloat for Wilmington's schools. It is time to show these communities that they do have support, even if it is not from local government. It is time to help our children who have difficulties affording school supplies and show the families that the community will lift them up and support them through even the darkest times.
The Wilmington Greens are putting together an awesome event for the Wilmington community in August called "Brown, Black & Green"! We would like to bring together all of the neighborhoods, cultures and communities of Wilmington and BE the CHANGE that we want to see in our city. We are going to have some great speakers, such as YahNé Ndgo, a passionate Green activist who has always been for the people! We need your help to make this amazing community event a reality. We are operated by the PEOPLE and only accept money from the PEOPLE, so every dollar helps! Donations will go towards venue costs, speakers' fees, and towards the purchase of school supplies to hand out at this family event. Help us create a better, brighter Wilmington!
