Willie Chancho Needs His Leg

Hello World, I am awkwardly reaching out to see of anyone can help me with my situation. It's uncomfortable to ask or put this information out to the world but when you love your animal, you will suck up your pride and do what it takes to help them out.

Willie Chancho has been my sole companion for 9 years now. He was with me during my time in the military and helped me through some hard times and my transition to civilian life. He became a service dog and served by my side for several years before he retired. He’s been treated well and had a great life until a fateful game of fetch. He fell, blew out his knee, and tore his ACL/CCL. He now needs extensive surgery to repair his whole joint, install rods, and repair ligaments. The surgery alone will cost $5,000 which doesn’t include any follow-up, medications or therapy.

Regarding myself, after I left the military I went to school to become a social worker. I foster dogs through Animal House and Last Chance K9 as well. I also volunteer for various organizations such as Team Rubicon, The Mission Continues among several other organizations. I’ve worked internationally at refugee camps and deployed to several disaster zones to help communities in need. Granted, volunteerism is not a paid job which may be why I am struggling to cover the cost for his surgery but it is something I love to do and is impactful in many ways.

I have reached out to every imaginable agency for assistance. I was able to get $600 in charity donations and put my tax return toward some of the cost but I still have $3,000 that isn’t accounted for. I am hoping this fundraiser will offset at least half of that, of possible. I feel uncomfortable asking for help but this is my last resort to help get him this surgery.
