Caring for over 250 dogs is expensive, and veterinary expenses constitute the largest portion of our costs. These expenses are not only substantial but also constant, urgent, and pressing. Dogs often arrive at our shelter sick, injured, malnourished, stressed, and unvaccinated, requiring immediate medical attention. Consequently, vet bills accumulate at an enormous speed.

Currently, we are seeking to raise €10,000 to address several critical needs. Ten recently arrived female dogs urgently require spaying, along with essential blood tests and microchipping, costing approximately €155-175 per dog. This is not merely a matter of routine care; having unspayed females in the shelter poses significant risks, potentially leading to conflicts among the males.

Additionally, three recently arrived puppies have been rushed to the vet with symptoms of gastrointestinal disease, and unfortunately, Parvo has been confirmed. This devastating gastrointestinal disease carries a high mortality rate. Despite our best efforts, we have already lost one precious life to this illness, and two more are currently fighting for survival. The estimated cost for treating these cases is €900.

Our senior dog, Mary, required Milteforan treatment for Leishmania, incurring a cost of €200. While Mary has found a loving home in the UK, the expense of her treatment remains. Furthermore, both Blossom and Lilly have undergone surgeries—Blossom for an ear issue and Lilly for a paw injury—further adding to our financial burden.

To protect our 300 dogs from ticks and the diseases they transmit, we need to purchase Bravecto, totaling €5,100 in cost. Deworming is an additional expense estimated at €1,200.

These are just a few of the expenses we face, but vet visits occur every day. Our volunteers can be seen at the clinic daily.

Our shelter operates without government support, relying solely on the dedication of volunteers like myself and donations from generous individuals like you. We are committed to providing the best possible care for our furry friends, but we cannot do it alone.

We humbly ask for your kindness and generosity in helping us cover these essential expenses.

Your support means the world to us and to the dogs who rely on our care.

With heartfelt gratitude, Elina Karson William's Safe Shelter House Volunteer
