Family stuck in Gaza

In the midst of conflict and chaos, there lies a story of resilience and determination. It is the story of a PhD student on the verge of completing his academic journey, yet faced with insurmountable challenges due to the dire circumstances in Gaza. As the world watches from afar, I extend a humble plea for your support, not just for me, but for my family's survival and the realization of a dream amidst the rubble.

Gaza, a place synonymous with turmoil and strife, has become our battleground for survival. Since October, we have endured relentless attacks and lived amidst constant fear and uncertainty. The humanitarian situation has deteriorated to unimaginable depths, leaving families like mine grappling with the harsh realities of displacement and deprivation. In the blink of an eye, I lost everything I held dear – my home, my belongings, and my sense of security. Now, the only shelter we have is a flimsy tent, where each day is a struggle for basic necessities.

But amidst the rubble and despair, there is a flicker of hope – my PhD journey. Despite the odds stacked against me, I stand on the cusp of my VIVA, the culmination of years of dedication and perseverance. However, time is not on my side. With each passing day, the threat of losing not only my academic aspirations but also the chance to secure a future for my family looms larger.

To compound matters, the path to safety and opportunity lies beyond the confines of Gaza, through the Rafah border crossing. Yet, this journey comes at a steep cost – $5000 per person for a special pass, totaling $25,000 for my family alone. Additionally, the

expenses of traveling to Malaysia to defend my thesis at the University Sains Malaysia, coupled with the cost of living until the end of the war, amount to a staggering $50,000 – a figure that seems insurmountable in the face of adversity.

In this time of desperation, I turn to you, not just as a plea for financial assistance, but as a call for solidarity and compassion. Your generosity has the power to change the trajectory of my family's life and breathe hope into our weary hearts. With your support, I can safeguard my PhD, ensuring that years of hard work and sacrifice do not go in vain. Moreover, it will enable us to escape the horrors of war and rebuild our lives in a place where peace and opportunity await.
