Hi, My name is Amy

I am looking at doing a year of fund raising for 3 projects that are very close to my heart.

These are the Bethlehem Centre in Romania, the Orphanage that is attached to the Bethlehem Centre and Gateway 33 in Leeds, UK.

So let me tell you a little about each project and why I would like to raise money for them.

Gateway 33 is a social club in Leeds for adults with Learning Disabilities. It is run by the charity People in Action. The club is run mainly by volunteers and requires donations in order to stay open. I have been a volunteer at the club for 10 years and would like to raise money to be able to have more day trips out with the guys and run different activities.

I first heard about the Bethlehem centre this year when I went on a mission trip with St George’s Church for a week to Romania. We stayed at the Bethlehem Centre for the Salt and Light Week in which they ran activities involving the community and families, such as children’s groups, cleaning the streets , English classes and the orphanage visits. The centre does a lot for the community including feeding the children that go there. So I would like to raise money to take there to help with the cost of the food and running the centre.

The week I was there I was involved with the Orphanage. Which I loved, but I found it hard, I spent my time with the under 4’s. The children that are their all have a learning or physical difficulty. Speaking to the woman who was in charge of the baby section, they are in need of so many things, such as nappies and shampoo, and all the things that children need in order to grow. We spoke about the fact that because of the difficulties the children have they will not be adopted. And how she has hand gel for the staff locked in a cupboard as it is like gold dust. Because they do not have shampoo they shave the children’s hair.

So this brings me on to my fund raising idea.

I was looking at wearing a Wig a Week, each week I will wear a different wig, all through the week, no matter what I will be doing that week. Either until I run out of wigs or the money stops coming in.

After listening to the children having to have their heads shaved, I decided I should do that.

So once I have raised my first £500 I shall have my hair shaved off, the hair will also be sent to a charity that makes wigs for people with cancer.

Then after that I will wear a different wig each week.

The money raised will be split between the three charities.

Thank You so much for all your support
