I have the unique opportunity to travel to Kenya to provide medical care. This international experience provided by my medical school allows groups of students along with varying medical professionals to perform medical clinics in third world countries. The mission of this group is to provide health promotion and disease prevention activities in a spirit of collaboration with the communities we serve.  The ultimate goal is that through our partnership with these areas we eventually leave the community having supported and provided a higher level of health and the intrinsic means of sustaining health promotion activities.  In a period of six days, we will often see over 2,000 people in clinic. These are low-income, impoverished slum and rural communities with limited access, and often times no means, to other medical care.

Our group will be traveling to Nairobi, Kenya for two weeks and will be setting up small clinics to diagnose and treat patients at no cost.

Please consider supporting our cause. Any gift is tax-deductible (email me about a letter), and will make a tremendous impact on the lives of those that we will be serving. We see patients presenting with all types of infection, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, musculoskeletal, and skin/wound complaints. We would greatly appreciate donations of supplies such as soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, reading glasses, ointments (antibiotic, steroidal, & antifungal), vitamins (child & adult), over the counter pain relief, decongestants, or any hygiene products to give to our patients. Our groups strive to not only provide the patients with the essential medications needed to treat their current illnesses but to also provide them with the knowledge of how to prevent the most prevalent diseases in their community. Each patient will receive teaching in regards to existing resources and culture-specific practices that can help them to live as healthy of lives as possible.

As a free medical clinic, we intend to use these medications and supplies to provide the basic health needs that are inaccessible to many of these communities. Our top priority is to safely transport and administer the supplies to the people and areas that we serve. In these harsh economic conditions, we realize our true wealth, including good health and access to healthcare.  This contrasts with the developing world that cannot provide the most basic needs for their people.  However, through volunteering and awareness, we can show our gratitude for the privileges others do not receive. As a temporary free medical clinic, everything that is available to us during our clinic is based on the success of donations before we leave.  For this reason, we immensely appreciate any donation you are able to give and want to recognize your impact in these humanitarian efforts.
