Director: Nadzeya Mikhalchenkava, Producer: Luffy Latiff, DOP: Mandy Chow, 1AD: Sarah Salem, Cam op/Editor: Kennedy Wilieson, Costume/Props: Prakaiwin Sillaparassamee.

PITCH : Vera, a young woman, arrives in a foreign country to join her twin sister, Hope, in working illegally as a performer at a nightclub. Their goal is to earn money for a brighter future. The allure of the big city and the promise of big money make everything appear optimistic at first. However, the only challenge is that the nightclub is under mafia ownership, and it won't be long before Vera realizes that everything comes at a price.

DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT

This story revolves around personal transformation and how life challenges can lead you to discover different aspects of yourself, even the ones you might have avoided confronting. It also explores the moral duality and the struggle of making the right decisions in adverse circumstances. Is it right to stand up for yourself and those you love, regardless of the cost, or is it better to succumb to the circumstances and safeguard your soul?

The tale follows Vera, the main character, and her two friends Roxana and Sanda, drawing inspiration from my own experiences and those of my friends from Eastern Europe, Asia, and Africa. They journey to a foreign country to work as performers, models, singers, or in a circus or nightclub, seeking better opportunities and a brighter future, which were unavailable in their home countries. Their stories, both with positive and challenging outcomes, are close to my heart and deserve to be shared.

This film aims to shed light on significant issues like human trafficking and modern slavery without specifying any particular country, as these problems persist globally. It's disheartening that such issues still exist in the 21st century, and my film intends to draw attention to this problem once again.

Taking inspiration from filmmakers such as Wong Kar-Wai, Bong Joon Ho, and Nicolas Winding Refn, who expertly portray human motivations in the darkest circumstances, my film will adopt a Neo-noir, Thriller genre. While dealing with serious themes, I prefer to preserve the aesthetic aspect and refrain from depicting violence and abuse scenes in a social realistic manner. This approach will keep the focus on the story and the film's underlying message.
