Wheelchair Van Transportation

I have a neighbor, who is elderly and has practicaly, no family left.  He is 84 and stays in a custom made electric wheelchair. He is unable to travel to medical appointments, what shopping he has and some other places. Being crippled,  with his special wheelchair,  he can't find any Jacksonville Transportation Authority vehicles or other transportation that can accommodate him. I have been semi shopping for Carl, no more home Doctor visits,  Barber, etc. He now has to travel to them.  That's our problem;  until now.  I have found an older van used for laying carpets. The owner doesn't need it anymore.  He is willing to sell this van to us and I have found a skilled welder, who can custom convert the van to accommodate Carl. He is a rather large man and that's one reason why we need this and he doesn't want anyone else to haul him. He doesn't trust anyone except me, ever since his wife passed away.  I'm more than happy to help Carl get around and by the way,  he is a Veteran of the Korean War, who got a Silver and Bronze Star, Purple Heart. I think he absolutely needs our help. Van and custom parts,  labor,  we are looking at $ 6,500.00. And this is a lot less quoted due to Carl served bravely and got hurt for his military service,  as well as age, etc.  I'm asking please help us get the custom van for Carl!  He sends his thanks and love!  So do I! Please also understand due to his age,  he forgets at times and can be stubborn due to war injury and age.   He gets just enough to get by with the Social Security and Military check which is small. Please let us put Carl on the road again! Thanks again,? Greg
