How a walk home shattered Blakes life

On the evening of the 26th September, 2012 my 18 year old son was hit by a 4wd doing speeds of 80km, while walking home from a Booragul train station with 2 mates. The car had veered off the road and ran into the back of my son. The impact had thrown him 20 meteres into the shrub. They had 6 paramedics trying to recuscitate and stablise him on the side of the road, then they continued on the way to John Hunter Hospital. We were told of Blakes injuries and he was in a critical condition. He was placed on life support and was in a coma. They also said that they didnt think he would survive the night because if his injuries. His injuries being a torn bowel, broken thigh bone, broken ankle, torn tendon, broken spine in 2 areas C8 and T3. Which has caused damage to his spinal cord and he has severe tramatic brain injury. He spent 3 weeks in a coma. He was in intensive care for 4 weeks, then he was sent to high dependency for another 4 weeks. He spent the next 4 months in the neurology ward. Then finally he left to go to Ryde Royal Rehabilitation . He was down there for 12 months. He came back up to newcastle where he is currently staying in a motel until a place becomes available. Where he will live with a fulltime carer. Blake is a tetraplegic, with tramatic brain injury. Blake needa a disabled van to get him to ongoing appointments. He has to rely on taxis which he pays for, and is coming out of his food money. We appreciate any donations. thankyou
