Campaign Story
For the past six months, I’ve been interning as a clinical psychologist at Maya Paya Kimsa in El Alto, Bolivia. This organization works with children and adolescents living on the street or trying to leave the street behind. As my internship is coming to an end I want to ask for a favor. I have been working closely with a 27-year-old young woman named Roxana who became paralyzed from the waist down after an accident seven years ago. Due to limited access to social and health services, she suffers constantly from bed sores and hasn’t left her house in two months. Roxana lives in a 20m2 room with her 9-year-old son who helps her sell DVD’s when he’s not in school. Both of them have suffered severe domestic violence, which they have recently (luckily) escaped but has left them to fend for themselves.
Please consider donating to my fundraiser to buy a wheelchair for Roxana so that she can go outside and play with her son despite her disability. Any money left over after buying the wheelchair will be used to help pay for her medical bills.
Roxana and I will be eternally grateful for any small amount you are able to spare.
