Hi, thanks for visiting our fundraising page for Sam.

As some of you may be aware our colleague Sam (Mekvale Envelopes Ltd) was involved in a tragic accident on Christmas Day last year. Although Sam's children are now in their teenage years Sam still hides their presents in the loft, and as she was taking the last batch out of the loft she lost her footing and fell. Sam fell down a total of 3 flights of stairs and although she had tragically broken her back she was incredibly lucky to still be alive.

For those of you who don't know Sam, she has an extremely bubbly personality and was even laughing and joking with the ambulance staff as they transported her to the hospital. Following a series of operations and physiotherapy Sam has been left paralysed from the waist down and told that she would never walk again, and to the amazement of the hospital staff she was planning her route to work in her wheelchair shortly after.

Sam has embraced her new challenge in an incredibly positive manner, feeling grateful that she is still alive and fortunate that she can still be around her family and friends. Unfortunately due to her circumstances Sam is getting virtually no support and she is having to sell her house and relocate with her family all within the space of a few months.

The only thing Sam is being provided with is the most basic of wheelchairs, for which she will have to spend the rest of her life living in. Although this is difficult for many of us to fully comprehend what this would actually be like, I'm sure you can all appreciate how important a wheelchair is to someone who is now in such an unfortunate situation such as Sam's.

As Sam has been, and hopefully still will be, such an integral part of the team down at Mekvale and also part of the Mayer UK group, we are doing everything we can to support her and help raise funds for a custom built wheelchair. With the cost of this being in excess of £7,000 we are putting various fundraising events together to try and raise these funds so she can at least live this part of her new life in comfort.

One of the events is going to be a 15,000ft skydive by Daniel Bolton, Commercial Manager of Heritage Envelopes Ltd (Sister company to Mekvale). Daniel has worked closely with Sam over the years and also went to visit her in hospital shortly after her accident, he is paying for the skydive himself so all donations will be going towards Sam's wheelchair campaign.

Anything you can donate towards this campaign would be greatly appreciated by us, but more importantly by Sam who we need to do everything we can to help. Her accident was one that could happen to any one of us, so please put yourself in her situation and donate as much as you can to Sam's wheelchair campaign.

Many Thanks!

Target increased...

Update posted by Daniel Bolton at 12:00 pm

Hi All,We've had a massive response already and we're already more than halfway to the £1,000 target I set for my individual campaign! Although this is great news we're still a long way off the £7,000 target we need to buy Sam's wheelchair so I've decided to increase my target
