I will try to give the Reader's Digest version of my story. In 1980 I was walking home from school with friends when we were hit by a careless driver. I had many injuries which included a broken knee which was undiscovered for 2 years. Therefore I had severe arthritis by the time I was 19. I finally received a knee replacement in 2007 believing it would change my life... and that it did. I developed an infection in the tibia which again went undiscovered for 2 years. During the following 3 years I had 3 knees in and out and spent months at a time in the hospital several times. My kidneys failed and I spent a year in a hospital bed in my living room on extremely high doses of morphine and sleeping 22+ hours a day. Dr's were unable to cure the infection and finally it came down to my leg or my life... fair trade, so I lost my leg above the knee. I am finally healthy again but because I was so sick for so long my husband became depressed and easily overwhelmed. I am unable to wear a prosthetic leg because my other knee is now too bad to walk very much and it needs to be replaced but I will never do that again! My problem now is that we are faced with a major kitchen reno to make it wheelchair accessible as well as needing a wheelchair lift for our van. Our basement also needs to have the walls braced because of some serious cracks in the foundation. Everything is just piling up on us. I am unable to work yet and the thought of going into $100,000 worth of debt is very scary when my husband has very few years left to work as we are getting older. I am trying desperately to exhaust all possibilities for help. Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for your help.

You're an inspiration, and I hope people will get behind this and help you out. I've never seen anyone battle through such a repetitive and grinding circumstance, and still have joy. You make me feel like we can overcome anything. Thank you. Thank you!
