Campaign Story
My name is Hanli. I am from South Africa and need to raise funds for a new electric wheelchair for myself.
Please read my story and if you are able and willing to help it would be appreciated so much.
Most of you get up in the mornings and walk to wherever you have to go; the bathroom, the kitchen, at work, in shops, to your beds. In between you do a multitude of different tasks but your legs take you where you need to go.
Mine doesn’t, though. Due to a genetic disorder my legs are not strong enough to perform this basic function. I have a condition called Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita. It's a mouth full, I know. It basically means that my muscles are underdeveloped and I have contractures in all my joints.
This does not mean that I am not mobile or active. In fact I live a very happy, busy life. I am an artist, and live my life as normal as possible within the boundaries of my disability.
And this is because I have been blessed with an electric wheelchair. My wheelchair gives me mobility and freedom.
Unfortunately my current wheelchair is old and the engines are starting to give problems. I therefore urgently have to purchase a new electric wheelchair. These do not come cheap though. Disability is an expensive hobby :-D
A basic electric wheelchair, for me, is an absolute necessity. And this is what I am raising funds for. But should I raise enough funds to purchase one with a tilt and recline function, it would be awesome. This is beneficial for movement, blood circulation and so much more.
This is where my story ends for now.
If you are able and willing to help me with funds, it would be wonderful. If not, please just share my request. Any support would be more than welcome.

We haven't seen each other in a very long time, but I really hope you get the necessary amount together for a new wheelchair. And having Sabrina as a friend is the best thing that can happen to anyone! Good luck 🤞 and all the best!!!! Apart from feeling happy to support your cause, it still shows how the South African government fails people in need. One day, I hope I will be part of supporting, helping and encouraging people again. See you soon!
