RNIB (Read for RNIB Day)

Help for Heroes

 Why these charities/not-for-profits?

"I have been going to my local Taekwon-Do school since I was four years old and enjoy the fun I have whilst training. I chose to raise funds for my local school so they can buy more equipment and use the funds towards supporting the members that become part of the Scottish ITF National Team." Jacob McNally, 8.

"As a veteran of both Bosnia and Iraq, as part of my duty and service as a member of the Territorial Army, I became aware of what can and does go wrong for the hard working men and women of our armed forces whilst on tour. I chose Help for Heroes as the charity of my choice since they do a fantastic job of supporting those that need help." John McNally, 46.

"Due to having a love of reading books and actively encouraging everyone I know to read and enjoy books I became aware of the work that the RNIB do. I chose to fundraise for the RNIB and raise awareness of their Read for RNIB Day. Through this the RNIB raise funds to help those that have sight problems enjoy books through giant print, audio books and other means." Joanne McNally, 43.

They will do an extreme read of "Kidnapped" by Robert Louis Stevenson, extreme as in reading whilst hiking and backpacking the 96 miles of the West Highland Way - and raising awareness for Read for RNIB Day - whilst staying focused and fit, a bit like being in the forces or doing TKD!

Taekwon-Do: a fantastic way for children and adults to keep fit and healthy but also learn respect, focus and calmness.

The money raised will go towards buying new equipment and help pay towards expenses for those members that are chosen to be part of the ITF Scottish national team.

Help for Heroes (H4H): supports veterans and serving personnel who have been wounded or injured, or have become sick, as a result of serving their country. Additionally their families and dependents receive support from the Charity as they care for their loved one, and adapt to the new challenges that they face. H4H is a tri-service military charity, providing support to full time, reservist Servicemen and women and veterans from the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force.

RNIB: Every 15 minutes someone in the UK begins to lose their sight and with that the ability to read the written word. It is devastating and can leave them feeling alone and isolated. At present RNIB can only reach one in three of the people who need them most but you can help change the story. RNIB believes that blind and partially sighted children and adults should have the same access to books and information as sighted people.

The UKTC is affiliated to the world governing body the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF) The UKTC is a non profit making organisation dedicated to promoting the art and sport of Taekwon-Do in the UK.

Royal National Institute of the Blind is a Registered Charity (Number 226227)

Help for Heroes is a Registered Charity (Number 1120920)
