Weekly Raffle: Support Lalmba, Win An African Souvenir!

Welcome to our weekly raffle to help support Lalmba's programs!  This week we offer a hand-crafted Luo bowl made by a Kenyan villager named Clementina Auko.  Clementina is the mother of 11, 8 of whom died of AIDS.  She uses traditional Luo craft techniques to make and sell baskets and pottery to provide for her grandchildren.  Clementina gathers with other neighborhood women weekly as a craft cooperative.  They hope to raise money to build a new classroom for the local school.

Money goes a long way in this part of the world.

$10 provides a clinic visit and medicines to 5 destitute people who cannot afford to visit the doctor otherwise.

$25 provides blanket for 1 destitute orphan who otherwise sleeps on a straw mats on a dirt floor.

$100 provides school fees, supplies, books and school uniform for 1 destitute child to attend school this year.

$200 provides a start-up loan for an entrepeneur to buy materials to start a local business.

Lalmba is struggling to maintain its programs in East Africa.  For 50 years Lalmba has been setting up projects in areas so remote no other NGOs will go, training local staff to provide basic health care, ensuring education for orphan children, offering microloan opportunities and public health initiatives.  We have a special love for orphan children, whom we see not as a burden, but as part of a brilliant future for Africa.
