Wedding For A Cause

My parents have been together for over 15 years and they still have not been married. About two years ago my Dad finally decided it was time and surprised my (step)Mom with a ring. Unfortunately, before they were able to begin planning my Dad had a severe stroke. He is only in his early 50s, never smoke, never drank. It hit all of us very hard. He spent the next year and a half in and out of rehab, and finally started making major improvements to the point where he can nearly function as well as he did before the stroke. They began planning the wedding again, aiming for an early October wedding (they both love the fall, and even own a small maple-sugaring operation) when suddenly he collapsed and had another small stroke. This was at the end of September, so they had to cancel the October wedding.

He made it through the second stroke with little complications, thank goodness, but they did find an aneurism in his neck that required surgery. I am making this fundraiser from the ICU waiting room right now. His surgery just went very well, but I'm afraid it will put off the wedding for even longer. I want to give them the wedding they deserve, and better. They both have worked hard their entire lives to provide for our family and the community, and have been great parents along the way.

That is where you come in. I want my parents to have the best possible wedding that they can in order to celebrate life, their lives together, and the many lives that they have touched over the years. I want them to know that good things DO happen. I want them to know that people care, even people they don't know. I want them to feel special again. Any money you can contribute to this cause is greatly appreciated. If I could throw them their dream wedding all by myself, I would. But I can't, so I am asking you very graciously to contribute whatever you can. My Dad and my Mom would appreciate it more than you would ever know. (As of right now, actually, THEY don't know. This is a surprise! Shhh!)
