Campaign Story
Whilst any less killing has to be welcome news, the badger cull being “phased out” has made many people read the headline and think the badger culls are over, they are not.
But what has been made clear from the governments proposals to phase out badger culling over the next five years is that “public opinion” has made a serious impact and that does mean that everyone has made a difference and can continue to make a difference to the demise of badger culling, writing letters to MP’s, signing petitions and speaking out on social media and of course people on the ground in the fields.
The main cost of badger culls has been the policing, this was something the government only recently said would “reduce to zero”, the truth is that badger culls have and will continue to draw people from all backgrounds to come out into the fields to protect this much loved iconic species.
We remain committed to protecting badgers across the countries cull zones, our innocentbadger.com website is used to disseminate information on locations of badger cull zones and exposes the people involved in orchestrating and undertaking the killing. The domain name and server cost is payable now and is £90 a year. We use a server that is based outside of the UK which protects us from the numerous legal challenges that we face (and ignore) each year.
We also have a Mitsubishi 4x4 that we use during the cull and throughout the year for investigations and for deploying activists into the field to sabotage shoots. Insurance this year is £550. We used a much smaller vehicle in previous years but it couldn't cope with the frequently neccessary work off road.
We are an entirely voluntary organisation and remain 100% committed to fighting the badger culls until the last shot is fired.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
