We want the fire fighters in Fort Mac to know they’re not alone – Canadians are banding together to support them as they fight wildfires burning across more than 200,000 hectares. When we saw the picture of fire fighters taking a brief rest after battling the flames for more than 20 hours straight, we felt compelled to do something to say thank you, and to extend our unyielding wishes for their safety. While a T-shirt is just a small token of our appreciation, we’re hoping to show these brave men and women that the entire country has banded together to recognize their tireless work and dedication.

We’re looking to raise $3000 to send a shirt to each fire fighter working in the region. We’ll start with the Fort McMurray fire department. If we surpass this first marker, we’ll aim to send a shirt to every firefighter in Wood Buffalo. If we surpass this, we’ll aim to send a shirt to firefighters from around Alberta. As we near our overall target of $3000, we’ll ensure we get a shirt to each fire fighter who travelled from another province to lend a helping hand. If the support continues, there are numerous first responders, paramedics, medical professionals and law enforcement we can thank.

If you’d like a shirt for yourself, there are three designs currently available for purchase at WeBandTogether.ca. All proceeds from the sale of these shirts will benefit Habit for Humanity’s Fort McMurray relief efforts, and support services for firefighters.

Budget:
  • 500 T-shirts + printing: $2750
  • Shipping: $250

Moments to celebrate together – we'll ship out T-shirts when we band together to meet certain milestones:

  • $800 in donations: First box of T-shirts sent to Fort McMurray Fire Department
  • $1600 in donations: Second batch of shirts sent to fire fighters in the surrounding areas
  • $2400 in donations: Third batch of shirts sent to fire fighters across Alberta
  • $3000 in donations: Fourth batch of shirts sent to fire fighters from across Canada

*This initiative would not be possible without the generous support of Burlington-based Jimmy Tees, our printing and fulfillment partner.
