Since we came to live in Crete 16 years ago we have rescued and adopted many cats and dogs from the streets and the rubbish. At the moment we have 9 dogs and 11 cats living in the house with us and we also feed the strays in the village. Last April my husband Greg had a stroke and has not been able to work since then. Now he has developed further health problems and is currently being investigated for a cancer in his neck. He is also suffering from clinical depression. We get no help from any government and have to pay his medical bills. We desperately need help to feed our animals and for vet visits, as well as neutering and medication. I realized that everyone has problems because of the virus, but any help you can give us would be very much appreciated.
Yesterday as Greg was coming back from the mini market a guy came round a bend on the wrong side of the road and crashed into him and didn't stop. Greg crashed into a ditch and hit a tree. He is OK, he just got a nasty cut on his nose where his face hit the steering wheel. The car isn't drive able at the moment and his friend Kyriakos wasn't available to take him so I had to cancel his appointment at the hospital. There isn't another one available until 8th April and It will only be for a consultation, not a procedure. Greg is OK, a bit shaken and his nose is very sore, but it could have been worse.
We have been totally overwhelmed by everyone's generosity, especially as these are difficult times for so many others. I will keep you updated about Greg's health, he has surgery booked for the 25th February. To all the wonderful people who want to help, I cannot thank you enough.
