The Long Distance Trails Crew (LDTC) is an all volunteer trail crew building. maintaining and protecting public hiking trails. Our crew does technical work on the Appalachian Trail, NY Long Path, Highland Trail and other projects on other shorter trails in New York and New Jersey. Our crew is an all volunteer crew from all walks of life, men and women alike. Most of the crew have already retired from their “normal” jobs or professions and others members are still working. A lot of our projects are in remote areas, many without cell service or if there is cell service, professional medical help is hours away. Most of our members hold CPR/AED/BBP and Wilderness First Aid certifications. But being in the wilderness and having someone go into cardiac arrest means there is a very small chance the person will be saved. No amount of CPR or Wilderness First Aid will save them. If the patient is in cardiac arrest, they need an Automated External Defibrillators to save their life. In addition to our Wilderness First Aid kit, a portable AED would greatly increase the likelihood of survival. See our work at www.longdistancetrailscrew.org
