Edwin and his family have travelled 25 hours by boat on the Ucayali river, a tributary of the Amazon river, to reach Pucallpa, Peru . These people from the country have come to this town of 500,000 where the children will have proper health care and schooling , as well as a better future. The only accommodation they have been able to find so far is a single room and they need a house.
Several Canadian families are cooperating with Padré Gérald from the Société des Missions Étrangères to build a house for them in July this year.. Padré Gérald has been a friend of the Canadians for a long time, a missionary in Pucallpa for 45 years, and has built over 30 houses similar to the one in the picture for families like this.
Purchase of land and materials in Pucallpa will cost $10,000 CDN .The Canadians from Ottawa, Ontario will be travelling to Peru in July to construct the house with the participation of the family. This project will change the lives of Edwin and his family dramatically, and be an eye opening experience for the Canadian young people involved.
We would appreciate your generous support in raising $ 10,000.
