Clashes between the military and local terrorist groups erupted in Marawi City last May 23. The Maute group torched houses, St. Mary’s Church, the Marawi City Jail, the Ninoy Aquino School, and Dansalan College. Reports said several teachers, a priest and about a dozen parishioners were taken hostage by the terrorist in different areas in Marawi.
