Campaign Story
My name is John Churchill and I am writing to ask for your assistance. I have been invited to join a team traveling to Gulu, Uganda in partnership with Watoto Child Care Ministries from April 28 – May 8, 2014. Watoto (www.watoto.com) is currently caring for 3,000 AIDS orphans in Uganda in a holistic home environment - each residence is home to one house mother and eight children.
The AIDS crisis has left many children orphaned and wandering the streets looking for food and shelter. Too many Ugandan children are forced to become child soldiers and experience a life where they are exploited instead of protected and nurtured, as children deserve. Watoto is making great strides in Uganda to rescue these children and give them the love, education, and support they need to become future Ugandan leaders. Watoto has, and will continue to, build homes, schools, and medical clinics for the orphaned children of Uganda. Many of these same children have gone on to attend universities, which shows that the hard work and dedication of Watoto is effective. I am excited that during our trip we will be building a schoolhouse for these children to achieve their academic goals.
As you can imagine, it is expensive to travel to Africa and therefore, I am asking for your financial support. Wave Church has already paid for the materials and local labor for the construction effort in Gulu, and now I need to raise approximately $3500 to cover the cost of my airfare, room and board.
If you are able to make a contribution on my behalf, click on the donate button on the right.
Wave Church will make one check out to Watoto for everyone on our team. All contributions are tax deductible and you will receive a year-end receipt. Also, please keep in mind that many organizations (Wells Fargo, Microsoft, etc.) will match 100% of an employee’s charitable contribution.
I am looking forward to visiting Africa, helping Watoto accomplish their mission and sharing with you the results of this amazing experience. Watoto is a wonderful organization and I am blessed to have the opportunity - with your support – to help them change the lives of Ugandan children.
Thank you and may God bless you abundantly!
