Campaign Story
We have just finished a fantastic trip to Tanzania and Zanzibar using the best Safari Company in Tanzania, Tanzania Explorer. The company is locally based in Dar Es Salaam and have a representative on Zanzibar in their own Mbanja. As a part of our trip we asked Mbanja to show us his village Makunduchi on the southern part of Zanzibar.
Mbanja took us on a walk in the village and we were showed their daily challenges which always included a waterproblem. The women in the family are walking long distances to find a waterpost with a waterpump or a manual well to carry up to 20 litres of water on their head back to the family. On top of that - the local school did not have water at all for their around 500 students!
We, the tourists, dicussed how we could help and decided to try to set up this campaign including 2 major tasks:
Makonduchi school:
The Makunduchi school is a school for children up to 7'th grade and have around 500 children attending the classes. There are around 50 students in every class. The school have a watertank installed but the pipes are dry and have no water since there is a breakdown in the supply. They "only" need a borehole and install a waterpump to fill up the watertank which is there already. Today the students must bring a bottle of water every day for their personal use and visits to the washrooms must be done outside of the school area.
Budget for the school:
Well digging 3500 USD
Water pump, fittings etc. 500 USD
Sum School project: 4000 USD
Watertank in the village:
The other project that have big focus now is to establish a stand with a watertank where a borehole already is drilled and the pump installed. The drilling and installation of waterpump is done by Mbanja and friends but they need funding of the stand and the tank.
Building materials: 1500 USD
Watertank, electricity etc 1000 USD
Sum watertank 2500 USD
We promised the women in the village that the watertank would be raised and ready before christmas so if you still have no plans for what to give for a Christmas present - these are the projects you should support.
All extra funds, if any, will be given to new projects managed by Mbanja and we can guarantee that the funds will be used on much needed projects in the village.
We will post pictures showing the finishing of the projects as they progress..

Dette er vår julegave til mine to flotte nieser Marte og Kaia som heller ønsker å støtte vannprosjektet enn å ta i mot vår «vanlige» julepresang. God jul og lykke til med prosjektet.
