Dig a Borehole is a community project aimed at assisting the 90% poor residents of Marsabit County, Kenya to access at least clean drinking water. Over the past years the region have faced extreme climate change that has resulted into the death of livestock-their only source of livelihood- and above all the loss of human live due to lack of water. Having vast knowledge of the area and its extreme hardship i would like to appeal to the people around the world to raise money at least to dig one major borehole in the area. People walk long distance(over 20KM) to access a 20litre jerry can of water that goes for Kshs. 50. This is beyond the reach of many residents who earns less than a dollar a day.
The sharing of water trough by the people and their livestock pose many health risk including but not limited to disease. The water is not even enough for the for the residents leave alone their livestock which they entirely depend on them for survival and eke out their living from. This project will help people to have clean drinking water at zero cost , this will lift the heavy burden of queuing for water as early as 4:30AM and also predicaments that comes with sharing water with livestock.
