Campaign Story
Mombasa is Kenya’s second largest city, it has an urban population of just over one million people and almost a quarter of these live in informal settlements.
Around two thirds of Mombasa’s low-income residents have no access to safe and affordable water. The supply of clean drinking water is a big problem in the city, and around a quarter of people in low-income communities do not have piped water as their main source of drinking water.
Mombasa is located on the edge of the Indian Ocean so there is plenty of available seawater, however treating it is costly and demand far exceeds supply. The city’s only utility company, Mombasa Water Supply and Sanitation Company, provides just a third of the water needed by residents.
It is with a lot of humility that I request for funds to facilitate digging a borehole, buying a water pump and a water purification machine so my community can have access to safe clean water for free, we have been asking for help from the country government for years but no help is forth coming..
My community will forever be indebted especially the women and children are the ones expected to fetch water for their homesteads
The funds donated will help me facilitate clean water for my community, the funds will be used to dig boreholes, to buy water storage tanks, water pumps and water purification machine
