ARUBOT - a little village in Kavrepanchok district in Nepal, approx. 90km west of Kathmandu needs YOUR HELP!
Despite living in a country with 6000 rivers, the villagers of Arubot have no reliable water supply even though just 600 m below is a big river with plenty of water
The approx. 400 villagers are dependent on only rainfall. It determines if the harvest is successful or if they starve. Not to mention general household use, cooking, cleaning, laundry, and well as animal care, would all be so much easier with a water source that is adequate and sustainable.
On the numerous treks we have taken over the last few years, we discovered some of our porters and guides come from Arubot, and during those treks we have learnt about their hard life in the village, and decided to help them building a proper water supply.
To be able to determine the best solution we have set up a 3-phase plan:
1) Pre-feasibility Study : Visit the site to get an overview of water source, water demand (number of households etc), height and distance requirements and available resources (electricity etc). Make a short list of applicable technologies
2) Detailed Feasibility Study: Get technical details about height, distance requirement. Get cost estimate of different technological options and accessories (pipes, tanks) and do a cost-benefit analysis. Discuss mode of operation with the community.
3) Implementation: Implement the selected technology and operation model.
The costs for Step 1 and 2 are about THB 100'000.-
Once we have the detailed feasibility study, we will be able to choose the best solution and start a second fundraiser to build the water supply. We have already been in contact with various NGO's and they will, with their previous expertise, help us with the studies and eventual project completion
Now we need YOU to help fund those studies for the villagers of Arubot to get a reliable water supply. Something we westerners take for granted. Any support is HIGHLY APPRECIATED, no donation is too small! We and the villagers of Arubot thank you in advance.
