On the 16th of JUNE 2019 two men who died when a well they were in collapsed at Okatope village in Namibia on Saturday, their bodies were later recovered on Sunday.
The spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force in the Ohangwena Region, Warrant Officer Kaume Iitumba confirmed that the bodies of Junias Kashima Hauwanga, 29, from Ohalushu village and Jacob Hangula, 37, from Okatope were found.
They were trapped underground after the well, which they were digging at the village to get water, collapsed.
Iitumba indicated that the search for the men started Saturday afternoon, but failed to yield results.
A tractor belonging to the nearby Helao Nafidi Town Council was brought in Saturday, said Iitumba.
He described the search as a very difficult task because the bodies were trapped some six metres underground.
A third person managed to escape when the well started to collapse.
Police, local community members and employees of the Helao Nafidi Town Council conducted the search.
