Grajero initiative focuses on creating access to safe water supply, sanitation facilities and capacity building of school community including development of safe water supply sources, construction of sanitation facilities and promotion of behavior changes towards hygiene and sanitation, especially for menstrual hygiene management (MHM)
Lack of water supply sources and sanitation services is one of the most critical problem of many schools in rural areas Kenya.students especially younger ones skip school in search of water and often drink water from unprotected traditional hand dug wells, rivers and streams. As a result school communities are exposed to various water bone diseases .
Another issue is the lack of appropriate sanitation facilities for children and teachers.Girls often skip school during their menstrual periods as there is no menstrual hygiene management (MHM) facilities in school compounds, students defecate outside in and around school compounds which intern is detrimental to health of both students and teachers
We are seeking funds in support of Gathima primary school in Gathima/gichungo village in Kenya. The school has 250p the school has no clean water for students to drink, they source water from small dirty well were also the animals drink from thus risking waterborne diseases .the school has no proper sanitation facility for both teachers and students
The funds from the support will be used for putting piped water to the school, construction of sanitation facilities for both teachers and, students in the school and also rehabilitation of the classrooms
Thanks in advance as we make the world a better place.
