Campaign Story
My daughter Samantha is mad about her water polo and swimming. She has been selected as a member of the Border Team to take part at Nationals in December in Port Elizabeth this year. She was also on the Border Team last year, her first year of playing polo. She also plays for the U15 team and the 1st Team at her school. She has just been on tour with the 1st Team to the Reddham Tournament in Cape Town, St Stithians in Johannesburg and Co-Ed in Port Elizabeth. She also played for the U15 team in the Stayers tournament held in East London.
Recently we had news that she has made selection for a scholarship programme to study in the States after matric for swimming. She swam SA Nationals Level 3 last year where she made finals in all 6 of her races and received gold medals for both her relay races. She has already qualified for 2 level 3 events for next years Nationals but is hoping to make Junior Youth. She will be competing at the end of November in East London at the Buffalo City Champs Gala. She will be travelling to Port Elizabeth in December to compete at NMBA champs. She travelled to Port Elizabeth during the September holidays to compete at Aquabear and also travelled to swim in some A league galas also in Port Elizabeth.
As you can see it takes a lot of travelling for these sports to be able to compete against other teams and swimming clubs. In order to better herself and gain valuable experience she has to travel. Unfortunately with East London being as small as it is the competition becomes stagnant and there is no one to push you to become better or faster.
As a single mother I find it a problem to finance all these tours and away galas and all the equipment and extras that are needed.
Samantha is in desperate need of new racing skins for swimming. She is now on the third season with her current skins that are so thin and stretched that they are practically useless now. She also requires assistance with fees for tours and away galas i.e. accomodation, transport, entry and tournament fees.
Any and all assistance would be greatly appreciated no matter how big or small. It would be really heartsore and a great loss if Samantha had to stop her sport because I am unable to support her. She is doing so well and has the potential to go much further.
Any businesses that sponsor her are welcome to have their branding on her sporting equipment.
