I'm not very good at asking for money, it's something that doesn't sit very well with me, but I am asking on behalf of 6000 people who can't ask you for help themselves...

I am travelling to Calais in January to volunteer at the refugee camp known as 'The Jungle'. This is 'home' to nearly 6000 displaced people, fleeing war. persecution and torture.

Winter is coming... look out of your windows, see the frost, the sleet, the snow and ask yourself could you survive outside, days after day, night after night in subzero temperatures, could you ask your family to? These people have no choice, the alternative back home is worse than the conditions in which they currently find themselves in but no-one is willing to help. This is not a political point, everyone has their opinion but the fact remains that there are people who need our help.

I have recently undertaken some fundraising and raised some funds which have been put towards and existing project in 'The Jungle' and also funded 100 pairs of socks, 500 hats and 500 pairs of gloves which I will be taking with me, alongside individual food parcels.

I would like to raise a further £1,500 to provide more robust shelter for the most vulnerable with safe, fit for purpose heating. There have been 2 documented fires within 'The Jungle' in the last 2 weeks with vast quantities of shelters being destroyed, these have been caused by refugees attempting to use candles to heat their tents, not only ineffective but potentially fatal.

Please donate anything you can you my fundraising page; every £ helps, I know it's a big ask, but please help me to help them.
