Warm Blankets for the Winter for Blind People in Africa

Hi All,

I am collecting funds for The Pashello Charitable Trust in Malawi, Africa, a land-locked country in southeast Africa, bordering with Mozambique, Tanzania and Zambia, and among the world’s ten poorest nations, with few natural resources to benefit from. Malawi faces several social problems, with about 63% lives below the poverty line (under US$1 a day), and a high rate of HIV/AIDS infection, malaria and malnutrition. But at the same time, Malawi is known as "The Warm Heart of Africa", is one of Africa's most beautiful and compact countries and offers an unrivalled combination of Lake, Landscape, Wildlife & Culture.

The Pashello Charitable Trust was established and registered in Malawi in 2011 to empower and help in alleviating poverty and suffering among orphans, the elderly, widows, and other less privileged people as its main objective. It currently has the following numbers in its care:

Orphans/ vulnerable children = 104

Elderly                                   =   65

Disabled                                =   57

On the 12th May 2013, The Pashello Charitable Trust is organising a function, where the director of the Malawi Union For the Blind will be the guest of honour and at which the visually impaired shall be given blankets for the upcoming winter season, amongst other things! It will be the biggest function Pashello have ever had. Funding is needed in Malawi by May 10th at the latest, to cover for the smooth running of it, including chairs and at least some drinks for the participants. In any case, funds received after the deadline, will also be highly appreciated by the organisation as they look after a lot of people who need care, listed above.

Some blankets have already been given and can be seen in the picture - beautiful, aren't they?- but more are needed.  I am in direct touch with the guys in charge of The Pashello Charitable Trust. We communicate on a daily basis on Facebook and they are 100% lovely and trustworthy and always keep me updated as to how the funds are used that I send out there. Can you please help? Surely by 10th May we can together get the necessary funds together for this very important function? Plus there's a little treat for those that offer bigger amounts (while stocks last). Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart :)
