Warm Blankets for Homeless Pets

Thank you so much for visiting this fund raising page! I am looking to raise money for a project that is very dear to my heart. I love animals and desparately wanted to help the ones in shelters, but, as a full-time college student with limited funds, I had to find a non-monetary way to help out. So, I learned how to knit and crochet so that I could make warm, handmade, durable blankets and send them off to shelters. Often these pets are terrified and withdrawn, and it is my hope that these blankets will give them some warmth and comfort. I have already made a few, but unfortunately, it is getting pretty expensive. I try to be economical when buying the yarn, but I need to have standards. The type that I am using now is thick (which helps me make the blankets much more quickly and makes the blankets much thicker and warmer) and soft and, most importantly, machine washable. However, it costs about $4.00 a skein, and it takes at least two skeins just for a small blanket (i.e. for a cat or small dog).

My second concern is the cost of shipping - as you know, it can get pretty expensive. Whatever help you can give me would be hugely appreciated by myself and the pets who recieve the blankets. I believe that each and every one of these underprivileged animals deserves a warm, soft blanket all their own, and you can help me make that happen!
