£5000! To help re-build a school for youngsters like these.
During the recent earthquakes in Nepal 8,604 Nepali people were killed; almost half a million homes collapsed and over 14,000 schools were destroyed; along with 260 health posts.
I know we can’t rebuild a whole village but with your help we can at least rebuild a school. I know it is a tall order but if 500 people see this and donate just £10 we are there, simple! In fact, we already have £700 from an auction and donations so we have a good start.
Those that have been with me to Nepal will know how tough it is for the youngsters of the Himalaya. Their only chance of a life beyond hard toil is education.
The school we intend to help is one of the most important schools in the Everest region. Junbisi School has 178 students, boys and girls, ranging in age from 3 to 16 years. Many children have a two hour walk to school and for those that live even further away, there is a small boarding house. The school was not completely destroyed but several of the classrooms are now unsafe and can not be used.
We are working directly with the school head teacher, the trustees and the Himalayan Trust. All the money donated will go into the reconstruction fund, I am covering the admin costs.
Pleas help us get this very special school up and running again.
