Hello! I am trying to raise funds towards the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Light the Night event this Saturday where I'll be walking for the cause at Washington Lake Park in Sewell, NJ and towards BreastCancer.org a non-profit organization dedicated to providing support to Breast Cancer battlers and survivors. I initially wanted to participate in a "making strides" walk in a nearby town, however they had a $1,000 donation requirement in order for me to be eligible to walk. I figured, while that would be amazing, it might be overzealous to try and pursue with such short notice. Wanting to still be a part of a cancer foundation fundraiser, I decided I could still try to raise funds towards both causes.

Cancer is near to my heart. My maternal grandmother passed away almost exactly two years ago, next month, due to terminal cancer that began as breast cancer. Initially my grandmother was in remission but later was found to have had terminal cancer when the cancer came back in a more aggressive form and metastasized (spread) to other parts of her body. I remember my grandmother receiving support sparingly from organizations dedicated to cancer patients, but when she did, she was overwhelmingly grateful. I'm hoping to raise this money to help provide the extra support to a patient battling with cancer, or a support group aiming to engage survivors or even in a small way, to help impact research that can hopefully help reduce the effects this disease has worldwide. My goal is set at $710 based on my number of Facebook followers; 1420. If each person donated 50 cents, I'd achieve my goal. Regardless of size, any donation is a step towards change. I understand financial demands and the current economic climate however if you can find extra funds in your budget, know of someone looking to donate but without an idea of where they want to donate to or if you want to start a change collection at the office for the next 2 days...it can all help. Thanks all for taking the time to read/consider this and God bless!
