Campaign Story
Dear Friends,
I am Ezio and I am a 69 years old retired man, married to Ornella and with two children: Simone and Lidia. Last year I have also become grandfather with the arrival of little Elsa. In this project I am accompanied by Riccardo which is 65 years married to Laura and with three children: Lorenzo, Giulia and Anna. We are longtime friends.
Starting 23 June 2015 my friend Riccardo and myself will start once again our walk to Santiago de Compostela.
In 2012 we walked the French path, starting from St. Jean Pied de Port and walking for 30 days for a total of 800km, crossing Spain from east to west.
In 2013 we reached Santiago de Compostela through “Via Della Plata”, starting from Seville to Santiago and Finis Terrae, walking for 45 days and a total of 1,100km, crossing Spain from south to north.
They have both been amazing journeys and experiences as well as a very demanding effort for my friend and myself considering our age. The walk enriched us a lot as individuals leaving unforgettable memories made by landscapes but moreover by encounters with other people and self-reflection.
This year we have decided to walk once again, this time via the “North path”, which is along the north coast of Spain, which sum up to approximately 850 km. Once again we will not walk alone but with the support of all the friends and family thinking of us and supporting us with encouraging and funny SMS (mobile text messages).
For this year we decided to do a fundraise by asking for donations. The aim is to collect something for each kilometer we walk and donate the entire sum to “THE VILLAGE OF YOUTH” which is located in NAMWERA, MALAWI (Africa).
The Village of Youth is school center with kindergarten, primary and secondary school hosting approximately 500 young men and women, with the aim to provide education to the new generation one of the poorest country in the world.
Namwera is a community located on a small mountain, above Lake Malawi. In this place Sister Ornella and Sister Eleonora give their support to a community living from agriculture and a few animals, that allow small families to survive.
Sister Ornella has been in Malawi since 1979 while Sister Eleonora joined her in 2010. They are both my sisters.
We schedule to arrive to Santiago de Compostela on 29 July 2015 and we will dedicate a thought and a prayer to any of you during the Pilgrim Mess celebration.
Any contribution is more than welcome!
