Dear Friends, Family and Community members
Its with a heavy heart that I write to you. I've been diagnosed with lung cancer which is in the beginning stages. We as community members, friends and family have pledged to take the fight to cancer and show that you can live a normal life. I lost my father to this disease and it has ravaged our family. My family is staying strong in the midst of it all but the fight against cancer goes on. There is no one I know who can say they DO NOT have a friend or relative that has battled this terrible disease. I have found a way to fight against cancer through, The walk for Life. Me, my family, community members and friends will be dedicating the walk to myself to my father, survivors and people who we lost and who is still currently battling cancer.
The walk for life is a going to be a team event that celebrates cancer survivors, and raises funds for the education, prevention, advocacy and patient services. It is a fun, outdoor and overnight fundraising event where teams take turns walking or running around a track. The walk starts off with a Survivor's Walk, where cancer survivors walk the initial lap, symbolizing the courage that survivors and their families display and sustain in their lives.
How can you help?
My goal is to raise R2500 to help fight cancer.
You can support me by making a generous contribution I what ever way or form you may have. I am asking for your support which which will help our community step up the fight against cancer and bring full awareness to what cancer has done to us as a community.
Thank you in advance for your thoughtfulness and generosity!
