Walk 4 Autism 2013

The Walk 4 Autism is now in it's 4th year and is an event that was started by Cheryl Jones, who I met whilst on a course for parents with ASD children. Cheryl started this event in order to raise awareness of Autism and also to raise funds for local special schools, so far £10,000.00 has been raised in the last 3 years.

This year the walk will take place along the roadside from Hebden Bridge to Halifax on Saturday 29th June, Fancy Dress is optional!

This year the Walk 4 Autism hopes to raise money for two smaller local organisations.

 Firstly, The Parent & Carers council. This is a organisation that provides a free service to disabled children and their families, including free training and advice on coping with various disabilities, days out, lending of appartus and supportive aids, and counselling to name but a few. They were recently the victims of a break in and all of the computers and many other items were stolen. They rely heavily on donations to help so many families and disabled children will benefit greatly from funds raised this year.

Secondly, Linden Brook Care Home. This is a respite care home for children up to the age of 18 who have learning and/or physical disabilities. It offers short stays to give parents and carers time to rest with the knowledge that their child is in a safe and secure environment. This organsiation also relies heavily on donations for it's great work.

So, if you are interested in helping raise awareness of Autism whilst helping to raise funds for these great causes please donate whatever you can, no matter how small!
Also, if you are in business or have a specific talent that can help, maybe you could offer something for our raffle which is held at the end of the walk in the Halifax Catholic Club so any donations made towards this will also be greatfully received!
