VR Educational Gaming hub for Slum Kids

The COVID-19 pandemic has paralyzed education in Kenya. Certainly, educational institutions have strong incentives to find short-term solutions. Students are losing valuable time and knowledge. Public institutions are losing the impetus to retain staff on full salaries. Private institutions are losing income, and potentially students to homeschooling. I figured now is the time to be proactive, by providing VR learning opportunities before these kids fall into the traps of current criminology waves dominating slums and towns in the capital.

Having come from less fortunate areas of Nairobi like Kibera, A slum situated on the outskirts of Nairobi with an estimated population of one million, suffers from inadequate housing, overcrowding, poor or non-existent sanitation, and grinding poverty. I clearly understand the challenges faced by young teenagers thus the idea of starting these VR educational hubs.

Our biggest challenge is acquiring the right tech devices needed to set up these hubs. We already have the expertise execute the idea and the right government channels to later expand this learning solution to other less fortunate areas in the city. We are appealing everyone out there to help us set up these hubs and fetch these innocent youths from drugs, holigansm and build their artistic skills during this COVID-19 and later.
