From late July to August I will be volunteering with the non-profit The Green Lion for their construction and renovation project in Bali, Indonesia. Set up through the International Volunteer Headquarters (IVHQ) this will be my second volunteer adventure since the original in 2015.
My goal with this fundraising page is to cover direct costs for the construction and renovation materials, and also use some funding to cover travel insurance and flight expenses upon completion of this program. Any additional funds raised will go directly to The Green Lion for additional resources. If we raise more than $600, I will make a matching donation (up to $250) to The Make-A-Wish Foundation for every dollar over that amount.
Why volunteer with IVHQ and Green Lion?
I am an international school teacher and will go directly from Bali back to China to begin the 2019-2020 school year. This lifestyle has allowed me to incorporate volunteer projects into my vacation as an educator. Having the opportunity to give back through IVHQ and The Green Lion is a wonderful opportunity to connect with traditional Balinese culture and explore a part of the world that has been impacted by catastrophic weather in recent years. Hence, the desire to participate in an area outside of sports and education by volunteering in the construction and renovation team.
