The IVHQ volunteer program which I am participating in is based in the town, Miercurea Ciuc, Harghita which lies in eastern Transylvania. I will be spending 2 weeks in 2017, starting 7th August, assisting at a summer camp for children aged six to sixteen who are from disadvantaged backgrounds. The summer camp project aims to provide physical and mental education for the children that participate.
In order to participate in this placement, I also need to complete a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) qualification from CCELT Online at my own personal cost. Further to this I am in the process of teaching myself Romanian so that I can speak with the children and local community with more ease.
This placement is between my second and third year of university. If I can get my TEFL and all is well at the end of my degree I hope to travel to more disadvantaged areas of the globe to help others who do not have the same advantages as I have had.
I'll update this page as I gain more information leading up to the placement.
Any donation, no matter the size would be truly appreciated.
Thank you so much for your support!
