Hi, my name is Chloe and I have been given such an amazing opportunity to travel to India and help care for children with special needs. This really is something I have always wanted to do, and I have finally been given the chance to get a hands-on experience with helping these children get an education along with essential rehabilitation sessions.

According to the India office of the World Bank, Indian children with disabilities are five and a half times more likely to be out of school than non-disabled children, where those who do attend school rarely progress beyond the primary school level.

Currently, people with disabilities face many barriers within and outside the Indian school system as 52% of adults with disabilities are illiterate, compared to 35% amongst the general Indian population. Where in India 74% of people with physical impairments are unemployed.

Due to the lack of awareness combined with the limited access to special needs resources it has left many disabled people in India without the care they desperately need. I hope this trip will allow me to give the children the best opportunity in life they can have.

The daily activities I will provide will include storytelling, physical exercise, basic life skill lessons, singing songs and games to get the children to interact with each other and although these things can seem small to other people it’s the little things that helps these children enjoy and learn throughout their day.

This will be an outstanding opportunity that will highly benefit myself whilst helping those in need. However, this is a self-funded opportunity, I am aiming to raise £1,600 to cover the costs of my trip. The cost will include basic accommodation, flights, the project, visa, injections, and some supplies for the local children such as books, pens, paper and all other little things we can often take for granted.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, any donations are greatly appreciated whether it be a few pounds or little gifts I can take over.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to ask, I will also be able to keep you up to date with all the information if needed. Once the trip is completed, there will also be a photo album created including pictures of the trip and my overall experience in India available to purchase with a small fee if you would be interested.
