Volunteering with children in… THAILAND

Hi everyone, I am travelling to Thailand in March 2016 to volunteer on a childcare programme for 3 weeks. I will be volunteering in day-care centres and/or in kindergartens. These settings provide invaluable support to families and children that live in the poorest communities in Bangkok.

I will be there to support the children in their day to day activities such as; teaching life skills, organising structured activities, teaching very basic English, giving support during meal times, responding to every child’s individual need, and to make sure they are in a safe but stimulating environment.

As well as being there to support the children, I am hoping to be able to learn and understand a brand new culture and learn new perspectives on childcare that will assist me with my university studies. Also I know I will have some amazing experiences that will benefit me in the future.

I have always been interested in working with children outside the UK and with one of my modules at university requiring me to do an international or community childcare placement; I jumped at the opportunity to do a placement outside the UK.

I am hoping to raise as much money as I can in order to help me cover some of the expenses, such as; the volunteer programme fee, flights, travel insurance, vaccinations and the food and transport while I am out there.
