Volunteering trip to Zambia

Hi everyone!

My name is Audrey Dufresne. I am a Canadian student who will soon be entering law school. Before starting this important stage in my life, I wanted to make a volunteering trip. While I want to work in an area of justice and equity for all, humanitarian travel is for me a means of temporarily alleviating the suffering of people who do not have the same opportunities as I do.
While it is impossible to help every person in difficulty, I believe that humanitarian travel can really make a difference in the lives of these people: “Giving yourself is the greatest gift you can offer”.

That is why I made the decision to go to Zambia next January for a two-month period. Despite the concerns of my loves ones and the many people who tried to make me give up my idea, my desire to help others was too great. Consequently, I will be doing unpaid and completely volunteer work at Elirayrose Preschool in Livingstone, Zambia. This school is located in a very rural area where access to care, education, water and food is difficult : « With a significant portion of children living under the poverty line in Zambia, many of these vulnerable children suffer from poor hygiene, inadequate education, insufficient food and little healthcare. Individualized attention and a focus on early development and education are crucial to breaking the cycle of poverty in Zambia » (IVHQ website).

WHY DONATE?

Your donation, regardless of the amount it represents, will help finance my trip and provide school materials to children, such as pencils, notebooks, coloring books, toys, etc. In addition, with this money, I will be able to finance the costs of aviation, transportation, vaccination, visa, insurance and equipment. The costs for humanitarian travel are very high, especially when you choose a nonprofit and local company.

This donation, however small it may seem, will help me directly, but its ultimate goal will be to make a difference in the lives of every children I meet in Zambia.
