HELLO to all reading this! I’m currently planning my excursion to Asia where I will be volunteering with animals and helping them preserve their habitats. I would love to explore the world and find myself and what I’m most passionate about by experiencing all these different cultures and ways of living.

In my trip I will be doing a 4 week volunteer programme to Sri Lanka where we will be doing turtle conservation. This includes prepping the beaches and turtles for when they hatch and are ready to be released back into the ocean. For the second part we are trying to do a 6 week volunteer programme in Bali where we will be doing wildlife conservation. This includes an assortment of jobs to enrich the habitat and help nurse injured species back to health. This is only if the borders open back up to the public. If they remain closed we will be going to an elephant sanctuary in Thailand to volunteer instead.

To make up for our travelling carbon footprint we will be taking time in both countries to plant trees equal to how much damage we’ve done to help minimise the effect

Growing up in quite a sheltered and privileged country has made me want to experience what more the world has to offer and how I can help preserve as much as possible. During the tough few years we’ve had with Covid has made me realise how desperate I am to get out there and do my part.

Animals have always been an important part of my life. The empathy I share towards them by not being able to explain what we do and why we do it. Our actions impact their lives majorly so I feel it’s my duty to make sure I give back as much as possible.

As a 2022 first year uni student I’m trying to get as much volunteering done as possible before I start my studies at Exeter University studying psychology. My travel partner is studying marine biology at Plymouth. This also is affecting us financially and limits the amount of travelling we can do regardless of how hard we’ve been working on our own to raise the money needed.

Any donation given is much appreciated and regardless of how much I fundraise, being able to get out there during these times is enough.
