I am volunteering in Sri Lanka in June 2017 for a month where I get the chance to teach English in an after school education programme that works in communities displaced by the 2004 Tsunami which are known as the Tsunami villages and I also get the opportunity to teach Buddhist monks. The aim of this project is to give the children of Ambalangoda the same opportunities as others, giving them the chance to develop their English and help them for the future. In this month I will also be working in an orphanage for 2 weeks to help care, teach and raise their confidence.
It is completely self funded and done through a company called Plan My Gap Year, in which they provide me with accommodation and food.
I would like to raise as much money as possible to help me go over and and teach in the Tsunami village, Temple schools and orphanages. It would be incredible to be able to help these people out as their education is very basic and the classrooms have an average class size of around 40 to 60 children.
If you would like to help me to reach this goal and are prepared to donate some money to help me it would be greatly appreciated and the money will be put to very good use.
Thank you very much for supporting me :)
