I'm travelling to Vientiane, Laos at the end of this year on the 26th of November until the 10th of December to volunteer with Vesabroad on their South East Asia tour.

I'll be staying in a remote elephant sanctuary with the other volunteers for the first week, helping the centre with the elephant rehabilitation project, assisting with the maintenance and building of infrastructures like the vet clinic and elephant nursery as well as feeding them and general care. The NGO has been working on protecting the elephants in Laos for over 12 years, and the Asian elephant is a highly endangered species which is why these sancturaries are so important.

At the same time, I'll be working with the local schools teaching English to the kids aswell as helping out with the maintenance of the schools which are mostly all in bad shape. Doing things such as building infastructures like new classrooms, bathrooms and many other necessities children shouldn't have to go without! This also involves educating the community on English profiency, health and hygiene which is part of a major community development project.

The second week is a cultural adventure experience doing things like exploring the culture of Laos, kayaking, swimming in the river and the many other once in a lifetime experiences!

Vesabroad is an environmentally friendly organisation who strive to reduce their carbon footprint wherever possible, which is something that means a lot to me so I'm so happy to be a part of this.
Locals from Laos are employed in helping with this programme and local materials are purchased for the work which is what a large portion of the sponsors go towards which is so helpful to their economy and something I think is important with programmes like these.

I'd appreciate any donation big or small, I'm still studying this year so a part time job only covers so much! Thank you to anyone who supports me in any way, this trip means a lot to me and I'm so excited to help out with these causes :)
