Volunteering in Ghana – Orphanage Project

I have the amazing opportunity to go volunteer in Ghana for a month this summer. I am going alone and it will be my first time traveling completely alone but I am extremely excited. I am going to volunteer at an orphanage which is sadly basic, under resourced and in need of us volunteers. I am aiming to raise £1000 towards my trip enabling me to help people who are truly in need. I also hope to use these funds towards the actual children in the orphanage. Whether this is helping to pay for something to be fixed or taking the children out I am determined to give as much as I can to these children and help them as much as I can.

I would hope if it was my child in need that there would be people out there that would help them, it breaks my heart that there are children out there that don't really have a place in this world. Although I can't fix the entire situation I aim to try to make sure they have fun and are happy. I can't wait to also share with them everything I can from my country and teach them as much English as I can. These children should have the same opportunities as children do in the UK and although I can't do much I wish with all my heart for these children to have successful futures free from poverty.

I am going to volunteer at Kumasi Children's Home which is currently home to around 100 children. Many of the children arrive at a very young age, as their mothers die in childbirth and have no one to look after them. However, the home also accepts abandoned children, street children and children of unstable parents.

I know £1000 is a lot to raise but I am going to do everything I can to achieve it. Please donate as much as you can or simply share this so other people can have the opportunity to donate.
