In August 2014, I will be heading out of Europe for the first time, on a challenging 4-week trip to Costa Rica, where I will be volunteering as an English teaching assistant.
Costa Rica's largest industry is tourism, and the ability to speak English puts a Costa Rican in a strong position to find meaningful future employment. But the reality is that only children attending private schools receive a decent level of English training, and the majority of English teachers can only speak an intermediate level of English themselves. I will be helping make a difference to the development of the children’s English and intercultural skills, and also helping improve the English of the local teachers too.
To be able to take part in this amazing volunteer project, I have plenty of money to raise, and it's pretty scary facing costs like these - especially with the price of flights to get me over the Atlantic as well. I will honestly appreciate any and all donations to help me on my way. Regardless of how little you can spare, it will still help me and I will be so grateful!
