Volunteering in Canada

Let me start with a little background of myself and my cause.  My Grandfather, passed at the age of 92.  After losing his wife (my Grandmother) to stroke at the age of 85 and suffering from a severe stroke himself at the age of 90 before passing, he was placed in an aged care facility.  I was always too busy to go and see him, always too career focussed and thought I would have forever to get on a plane and visit.  Now, it is too late.  My goal is to raise enough for myself to volunteer for a project.  A project which aids with the assisting of the elderly, giving them a better quality of life in their final years - something of which I would have loved to do for my own Grandfather.

A little about the cause - The project supports the largest care facility for elderly people in the West End of Vancouver. The Centre provides independent housing, assisted living and complex care for elders. It supports the Eden philosophy and is committed to creating a human habitat where life revolves around close and continuing contact with plants, animals, children and youth. The Centre aims at establishing a homelike environment that emphasizes a quality of life supporting the physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual well-being of each person.
